Moon in Taurus: This is the Moon’s exaltation - a very positive place for the Moon where she and her significations are lifted up and greatly supported. Physical work and care of the body are each highly effective during this time. The Moon herself is also more benefic during this period, making this a good time to do lunar magic and workings.

Triplicity and Quadruplicity: Fixed Earth. Fixedness indicates prolonged activities and an overall steadiness in people’s moods. The Moon in fixed signs makes activities more stable and their duration longer. The earth element emphasizes the physical body and propensity for work, and the Moon in an earth sign often expresses more practicality, groundedness, and a concern for the material world.

Moon’s ruler: Venus. The Moon is averse to her ruler, who is currently in Sagittarius. The Moon will not have support in grounding her significations.  The Moon-Venus aversion on its own creates some tension with other people and difficulties around emotional vulnerability.  Obstacles and roadblocks may arise with the arts and creativity - it is harder to hear the muses.  However, the fact that the Moon is in a fixed sign can ameliorate problems grounding long-term goals.

Relationship to the Sun: Inferior Earth trine to the Sun in Capricorn. There is great harmony and flow between your own desires and intentions and what the world has to offer you. External work is easier, and less roadblocks arise to get in your way. The earthy quality of the trine promotes stability and reliability. You will tap into this the most if you try to remain in the present moment and keep yourself grounded, doing grounded things.

  • Inferior earth trine to Mercury in Capricorn. There is ease expressing ourselves with language, and our thoughts and ideas will be more clear. You may find communication to flow, with words coming naturally to you and others understand you quickly .

  • Inferior fixed square to Jupiter in Aquarius: Last period’s sextile has hardened into a square. Support from teachers and authority figures, but it comes through hard lessons. You might push yourself more to strive. You may find it harder to put on a happy face if you’re feeling down. But you can learn a lot this period about yourself and even your path if you choose to lean into it. It’s a fixed square - this will be a persistent theme.

  • Inferior fixed square to Saturn in Aquarius: Last period’s sextile has hardened into a square. Shame spirals, depression, negative self-talk etc. are all more likely during this period. It’s fixed, and there will be a danger of this for the entire period.

Summary: Finally, we can celebrate the holidays with some nice, chill, plush, astrological lunar energy. How often does that happen? There are only two downsides: first, don’t spend too much time alone or that nasty fixed square from Saturn in the inferior position will drive you crazy with shame spirals and loneliness (but it does help that both Saturn and the Moon are essentially dignified); second, the aversion to her ruler, Venus, means that the Moon cannot make anything super grounded or long-lasting happen. But you shouldn’t be trying to do that anyway. It’s the holidays! Go bake a sugar-free, gluten-free, guilt-free cake and forget about tomorrow.
