Entry: Saturday the 29th at 5:28 am EST / 10:28 am UTC.

Departure: Thursday the 31st at 1:57 pm EST / 6:57pm UTC.

Moon in Cancer: Rulership of the Moon - strong essential dignity. Nurturing and supportive. Emotional exploration is strongly supported here, as well as stillness and introspection. Not a good time for hard work or trying to get a lot done, but passivity and quietude will take you very far.

Triplicity and Quadruplicity: Movable water. Movability (cardinality) indicates short and quick bursts of activity that are cut short and not seen through as often. The Moon and our own moods, activities, and attention spans tend to flit from one thing to the next. The water element emphasizes the emotional and inner life, and people tend to prioritize their own inner states and unconsciousness patterns. The atmosphere takes a very reflective tone and introspective tone.

Moon’s ruler: The Moon is her own ruler in Cancer, part of the reason this placement is so positive. Time spent well during this period can always have long-lasting results.

Relationship to the Sun: Opposition to the Sun in Capricorn. Great tension, roadblocks, and obstacles to enacting your will.. The outer world, environment, and your circumstances will continually rise up to get in your way. With the movable nature of this opposition, the challenges will come up suddenly, and go away just as suddenly.

Aspects

  • Movable Opposition to Mercury in Capricorn. Challenges in communication and dialogue. Interpersonal discussion is strained - it will be harder to be heard, and it will also be hard to hear others. You will have trouble getting your point across, so don’t bother. Slightly higher potential for traffic and road trouble. With the movable nature of this opposition, the difficulties related to speech will come up suddenly, and go away just as suddenly.

  • Inferior Moveable Square to Mars in Aries: Last period’s sextile as hardened into a square. Aggravated emotions, tension and frustration at circumstances, but also a strong impulse to get things done. You may find yourself tensing up and going on the defensive when there is no need to do so.

Summary: This Moon in Cancer period is fairly challenging. We don’t have a single easy aspect, and the hard aspects include an opposition to the Sun and a square to Mars. Life is not asking you to push through resistance and fight to have your own way. Sometimes you need to do such things, but it won’t get you anywhere now. This is the time for stillness and reflection, as much as you are able. Despite the challenging aspects, we still have the benefit of the Moon being in her own sign, which ensures that you can find some real insight through quiet reflection and meditation, even if you can’t accomplish everything in the outer world that you wanted to.
